Paper Felting
I’ve recently been exploring the Korean art of Joomchi, also known as paper felting. By layering coloured papers and fusing them through a rhythmic felting process, I create richly textured surfaces that feel both delicate and enduring. As the paper is worked—worn, softened, and thinned—the colours and shapes of each layer begin to emerge, revealing subtle traces beneath the surface.
This process closely aligns with my ongoing interest in landscape. Each piece becomes a kind of terrain, where layers suggest history, erosion, and the quiet presence of what came before. My aim remains to evoke these shifting strata—capturing not just the visible surface, but the memory and depth embedded within it.
